Promenades
Phase 1 of the promenades started in March 1997 with completion in August 1997. This gave the public access around the West of Albert Pier site for the first time.
Roads and Infrastructure
The first phase of the roads and infrastructure programme commenced in June 1997. This involved the construction of the western carriageway of La Route du Port Elizabeth and part of the inner road as far as the marina park, with a spur to the Elizabeth Marina.
The second phase involved the construction of the southern roundabout and the eastern carriageway which followed in the summer of 1999. The third and final phase involved the extension of the road to the internal roundabout opposite the Hotel and was completed in 2000.
