Castle Quay
Phase 1 of the Castle Quays mixed use scheme was designed by the world acclaimed architect Eric R. Kuhne who is best known for Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney and Titantic Quarter Belfast. Planning approval was granted in October 2007 and a Development Agreement with Castle Quays Developments Ltd. a company wholly owned by Dandara was signed in June 2008.
The scheme comprises two blocks and construction will be completed in stages between December 2010 and April 2012. Block A, to be known as Le Capelain House consists of 136 residential units totally 85,889ft2 and 19,076 ft2 of commercial accommodation. Block B, to be know as Millais House, consists of 169 residential units totally 92,339 ft2 and 27,852 ft2 of commercial accommodation.
Works on site, sales and marketing commenced in June 2008 and by the end of 2009 80% of the residential accommodation had been sold. Additionally, by the end of 2009, the Developer confirmed Castle Quay as a world class maritime destination by securing a high profile celebrity chef tenant for 10% of the commercial accommodation in Block A. Marco Pierre White will be opening three stylish new venues with ‘Marco’s Rib Room & Oyster Bar’, ‘La Maree’ and ‘The Harbour Bar’
A detailed application for planning for Castle Quays Phase 2 was submitted in December 2009. It will provide an additional 271 units of residential accommodation and further commercial opportunity.
